LaVell Edwards : Building a Winning Football Tradition at Brigham Young University
LaVell is not a typical major college football coach. He didn't play college ball at one of the famous footabll schools--Ohio State, Alabama, or Nebraska. He played at Utah State. He has never studied football under on of the coaching greats--Woody Hays, Paul Bryant or Barry Switzer. LaVell is strictly a Utah product--born and raised in the shadows of the Wasatch Mountains. Except fo a brief period in the military service, he has never played or coached football outside Utah.
This is his story, in his own words, how he developed his successful coaching style different in many ways from that of any other major college football coach in America. He learned more about how to run a footabll team from his experience as a Mormon Bishop than he did from well-known football coaches.
