"Hong Kong is located at the mouth of the Pearl, or Canton, River on the southern coast of mainland China. Dubbed the Pearl of the Orient, Hong Kong has a population of 7.3 million people, living in 427 square miles (1,106 square kilometers), and it is known as a financial center of the world, where 'East meets West.' In 2016, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints had 24,881 members in four stakes and forty-one congregations in Hong Kong, along with a mission and a temple. This article describes the history of seminary and institute—two of the church’s education programs—in Hong Kong and the effort to provide weekday religious education." [Author]
