"In a 2010 article, Fritzen documents her search for the origin of
the prophecy attributed to Woodruff. She analyzes several sources
and a number of the commemorations that have retold the beloved
story of an apostle prophesying of a blessed land for those who, at the
time, struggled to build a community.2 Building upon Fritzen’s work,
this article explains how a pageant brought this relatively unknown
and forgotten story to light in southern Idaho and how—through
print, commemorative activities, and the spoken word—the pageant
version of the Wagon Box Prophecy became a historical fact in the
minds of Latter-day Saints in Idaho." -
