"This article examines Thatcher’s impact on both the successful and
furtive struggles of the church to colonize a number of its foremost members in Mexico. It shows how Thatcher was both a failure and a
success with respect to colonization. As an ancillary point, the article
also reflects lightly on how Thatcher’s single-minded colonization
efforts may have exacerbated his growing fractious relationships with
some of his apostolic colleagues." -
