Angelo Baca (Navajo/Hopi) provides a compelling insight into the journey of a young native boy growing up in the confluence of Mormon dogma and Navajo custom. Baca charts a personal journey that led hom to make a film, In Laman's Terms: Looking at Lamanite Identity, in which he speaks back to the LDS Church from a critical Indigenous perspective, stridently arguing against the appropriation of his identity in order to tell a story that simultaneously erases and co-opts, re-stories, and violently repositions his people's history and narratives to suit non-Native sensibilities.
