This article addresses the wounds of racism in the Church, especially those of the racial restrictions on temple and priesthood participation. De Schweinitz also addresses the problematic teachings of William E. Berrett and his influence and published works, his perpetuation of racism amongst Church members, etc. Other scholars have also commented on racism within the Church, and it is important for members to create a 'new story' and community that is accepting and allow the gospel to provide for all cultures.
