I will argue in this essay that [F. W. J.] Schelling offers real possibilities for Mormons who want to think about issues of divine power, human freedom, evil, and eschatology. I will also engage some of David Paulsen's writings on these same subject, particularly his "Joseph Smith and the Problem of Evil"; "The God of Abraham, Isaac, and William James"; and the above-mentioned essay on process theodicy and eschatology, "Searching for an Adequate Theodicy." My essay will in large part be appreciative of Paulsen's work, but also charitably critical of several of the positions he has taken. [From the text]
