This chapter details the events of 1988 that led to [the meeting with Chairman Erich Honecker and President Thomas S. Monson] and its results. Frank Apel, then president of the Freiberg Stake, attended the meeting. Three years later, he commented on the significance of Honecker's approval. "Everyone waited. Will Erich Honecker say 'Ja'? And when the 'Ja' came, everyone heaved a sign of relief. Everyone thought if the other comrades who were present also heard him, everything will be okay. He said 'Ja,' and now things will get underway" (1991). [From the text]
