"The arguments between fundamentalists on the one hand and liberals on the other have focused too long on the issue of historicity. Careful study of the content of the Book of Mormon has been ignored. As a result, the text in terms of its stories and their meaning and significance, has been sadly neglected.... I thus want to claim the Book of Mormon as a resource for a becoming peace church, a resource for a neo-restorationism that reclaims the vision of Zion-for the sake of others-be they Christians, Jews, or Muslims."
