It is not generally remembered that there were several Mormon congregations in Britain before there was one in Salt Lake City. Indeed, much of the impetus given the famous westward trek of the Mormons resulted from a year's work devoted in England by that amazing 19th century colonist, Brigham Young.
For it was Young himself who expedited the publishing of the Book of Mormon in England, and who provided a financial method for easing emigration for those who wished to gather in the Mormon Zion.
