Early Latter-day Saints learned about the Great Apostasy from Joseph Smith's First Vision and soon framed this as part of a universal pattern of dispensations and apostasies. Important 19th century LDS writers on the Great Apostasy include Parley P. Pratt and James E. Talmage. In the 20th century, LDS apologists and scholars started viewing the Great Apostasy in its historical context. This appendix includes an annotated bibliography of notable LDS works on the Great Apostasy.
