This chapter discusses the history of voting and common consent in the LDS Church. When the Church was founded, and after Joseph Smith had received the authority and commandments needed to restore the Church of Christ to the earth, he still needed the consent of the people. This chapter argues that the best label describing the Church is "theocratic-republic" instead of "theo-democracy", focusing on the need for leaders in the Church to get consent from their constituents through the Law of Common Consent.
