"The autobiographies of many distinguished Utah Pioneers filed in the History Library of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers contain so much valuable information that we deem it advisable to publish several such histories each year - told in their own way. Some we publish as written: their impressions, their disappointments, incidents in their own lives which are recalled modestly, not boastfully. Not all were educated, but their remarkable accomplishments, which were plenty, are well told as to the people and their way of life in a new land where they had to sacrifice to conquer." [Author] Histories in this chapter include the personal writings of Charles Ramsden Bailey, Caroline E. W. W. Larrabee, John T. Sutton, Louisa Mellor Clark, Job Pingree, Joseph Cooper, and Niels Johnson.
