The article explores the problem of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints concerning the Mormon identity. Topics discussed include an examination of the meaning of the world "Mormon" in relation to the central event of the "Book of Mormon" narrative. Also discussed is the English philosopher John Locke's theory of identity and Scottish philosopher David Hume's description of personal identity in his "Treatise of Human Nature."
