Gay and lesbian former members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints : an identity study
Salt Lake City, UT
"This thesis is a qualitative research study on the experiences and identity construction of gay and lesbian college students who are former members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS). The purpose of this study is to provide university and college LGBTQ resource centers a better understanding of the unique challenges and needs of the gay and lesbian LDS student population. The life stories of seven gay and lesbian former members of the LDS Church were collected and analyzed through the lens of student identity theory, feminist theory and queer theory, specifically the work of Judith Butler, to gain a greater understanding of this underserved and understudied student population."--Author's abstract.
