The purpose of this study was to identify the profile of an ideal teacher for the Church Educational System (CES) for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This study surveyed a 159 students, teachers, and administrators in order to find the characteristics perceived to be ideal in a CES teacher.
The survey included 16 characteristics of an ideal teacher of which the surveyee ranked in order of importance. Additional questions were added to better understand other area that might affect rankings, such as, subject matter, gender, age, and experience. This quantitative study claims the top 5 characteristics (in order of most important to least) in a CES teacher are: spirit directed, love for students, edifying and uplifting, enthusiasm, and listens and understands.
