This article shows Mormonism's earliest communalistic endeavors through Isaac and Lucy Morley and their extended family in Kirtland, Ohio, in particular their daughter Lucy Diantha. Following the New Testament patter of having "all things common" (Acts 4:32), the Morley group lived communally prior to their affiliation with the Mormon faith. Once the Morleys and several of their like-minded neighbors answered the call of the Mormon elders to join the Church of Christ, the new religion influenced expansion of their perceptions of communitarian living.
