After translating the Book of Mormon, Joseph Smith and his friends faced the daunting prospect of finding a willing publisher and paying the printing fees. The printing job was initially turned down by a local Palmyra printers Egbert B. Grandin and Jonathan A. Hadley. Grandin eventually reconsidered Smith's offer and agreed. Responding to a revelation, Martin Harris financed the printing endeavor.
