A biography of African American author and playwright Wallace Henry Thurman is presented. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, on August 16, 1902. He wrote his first novel at age ten and worked as a journalist in Los Angeles, California. He moved to Harlem, New York, and participated in the artistic movement known as the Harlem Renaissance as a journalist and author. He wrote several plays and novels including the play "Jeremiah the Magnificent" and the books "Infants of the Spring" and "The Interne." He died on December 22, 1934.
