"It appears that the geologic structure known as 'The Big Horne Basin', in Wyoming's northwest corner and lying between the Yellowstone Park Rockies on the west and the Big Horn range on the east, was an amphitheater prepared for the enactment of a modern day drama on a vast scale. The events that brought this about began making appearance in the 19th century in prologue fashion but the First Act did not truly begin until the early dawn of the 20th century. With this drama in its early stages, the book herewith is concerned. The perspective of the setting in history is given, and then the details of the entrance of the Mormon Colony and the thrilling human interest stories incident thereto and contemporaneous therewith are told by one who took part, a major part, in early development of the Big Horn Basin."
