Soon after the Cotton Mission in St. George started to decline, veins of silver were found amidst the sandstone near St. George. This discovery of silver lead to the establishment of the mining town Silver Reef. Though its history has been laced with negative opinions, this article takes another look at Silver Reef and its relationship with St. George.
