In this article, the author compares darker historical events in the history of both the Mormon and Catholic churches. He explores the reasons behind each religion's different responses to such gruesome scenes in history like the Mountain Meadows Massacre for Mormons and various crusades or genocides in Catholics history. The author looks at several areas in the respective churches beliefs and structures that may relate to the question of evil and the communal and historical participation in it. He looks at the statements and actions of the authorities to begin before looking at the anthropologies - what each religion claims to believe about the human person. [From the article]
