The article tries to date the plural wives of Joseph Smith. The author uses Wilford Woodruff’s records in order to date the marriages and compares them to human memories, which seemed to be inaccurate. The author tries to persuade the audience to “consider more carefully our reliance on human memories as primary historical sources” especially when discussing controversial aspects of LDS history. He goes through historical records and first-hand accounts for Joseph Smith’s marriages to Louisa Beaman, Zina Jacobs, and Presendia Buell, also providing peculiar aspects about each of the marriages in accordance with LDS history and doctrine in that specific time period.
