January 1863 to April 29, 1870. Dusenberry comments on plural marriage, expressing some uncertainty about it. He describes the Salt Lake City Theater and his view of the Tabernacle. He leaves Salt Lake City for Provo in April 1863. He negatively mentions the July 24 festivities in Provo. He joins the church between 1863 and 1867. He describes in detail an educational controversy in the Provo School District, as he is a school teacher. He courts and marries his cousin Harriet Virginia Coray in the Endowment House. He mentions Brigham Youngs arrest for polygamy and describes him as a smart man and a very good speaker. He lauds Miss Carmichael as Zions sweetest poetess. He describes briefly many sermons by Brigham Young, Orson Hyde, George Q. Cannon, and George A. Smith. He comments on the Amasa Lyman doctrinal controversy, appearing to take the side of Lyman.
