March 18, 1856 to April 12, 1857. Sporadic entries jump months at a time. Miller records life at Fort Limhi as he serves a mission to civilize the Shoshone and Bannock tribes. May 8-10 entries record a visit and sermon by Brigham Young. From August to the end of the diary, Miller records rumors of Johnston's Army and associated Native hostilities. He was eventually forced to flee the fort due to these hostilities. Miller also records the entry of Governor Alfred Cumming, Colonel. Thomas Kane, and party into the Weber Valley on the way to Salt Lake.
