2 July 1852 to July 29 1852. Clarks company of wagons reaches the Greenwood cut off, where a man tries to discourage him from passing trough Salt Lake City. After ignoring him, Clark reaches Fort Bridger and records a good description of it, as well as the difficult trail through Emigration Canyon. He is impressed by Salt Lake Citys irrigation system, the city and the bravery of the Mormons for settling the area. He explores the city, discusses polygamy with several Mormons and sees Brigham Young a king among men. Clark and his company travel through Weber county and cross the Bear River on the way to California.
