This article traces the doctrinal origins of the concept of the Gospel being rejected by the Gentiles, and how different groups and individuals who claimed Joseph Smith as their prophet have interpreted this concept. Many schismatic groups have used this doctrine to implicate rival groups, or the United States and the world as a whole, as the wicked Gentiles who have rejected the gospel and will be given no more chances.
