[p. 64-70] April 21, 1938 to August 16, 1938. Clementina Proctor describes the daily life of her family in Stirling, Alberta, Canada. They work on their farm, celebrate birthdays, and perform household chores. Proctor takes special notice of her childrens and grandchildrens activities, as well as any callers. She offers her recipes for canning strawberries and making preserves, noting the recipe is superior to other recipes shes tried.[p. 116-131] September 3, 1884 to November 2, 1884. Ericksen describes daily life in the Danish population of Mount Pleasant, Utah. Ericksen details different ideas about the scriptures and history, from the Buddhists to the Reformers to Julius Caesar. He notes a disagreement with another member over whether Gods judgment rested in the individual conscience alone or if God would make our sins known to others. He works on the family farm and at the local store as needed. Many entries describe going out with friends, attending plays and other amusements, and courting his future wife, Clementina (Tina). He also occasionally speaks at church meetings, including one talk he gives on the fly about the importance of always being prepared to give a talk without warning. Ericksen mentions, in passing, an occasion when a friend named Magnus brought him some beer which he and his friend N. Rolfson helped to drink. Ericksen further notes a talk at Young Men Mutual Improvement Association (Y.M.M.I.A) given by President J. T. Allred on the virtues of staying away from locations where alcohol is served. Ericksen then notes his nomination and election as the president of the Y.M.M.I.A. [p. 322a-326] April 18 to August 7, 1849. Hansen's initial entries focus on gathering together the Howard Egan Company. As they travel across the plains, the weather, outbreaks of cholera in other companies, landmarks passed, and company births and deaths are noted. The diary ends with the companys arrival in the Salt Lake Valley. A partial list of company members is appended.
