"Sketchy account of life to 1857. Then diary entries. After emigrating from England settled on Mill Creek in Salt Lake County. Farming. Interested in weather, prices, Church meetings. Went to the mill, bought and sold livestock, attended quorum meetings, settled tithing accounts. A soldier in the Nauvoo Legion during the Utah War. Comment at the end of 1860: Nothing of a very interesting character, only the downfall of the government of the United States as predicted by Joseph Smith. Quite detailed from 1857-60. Gaps from March to December 1861 and from 1861 to 1865. Another lapse from late 1866 to late 1868. UHi [Ut St Hist Soc] has two typed versions."
