December 17, 1944 to May 17, 1945. Young writes brief entries describing daily life in the POW camp. His entries often mention church meetings, receiving Red Cross parcels, listening to news of the Allies on a contraband radio, and making model planes, as well as the prisoners' constant hunger. He records the liberation of the camp by the Soviets on May 1, 1945. After liberation, Young's writes of his attempts to procure souvenirs from Germany and his move to France, where he is awaiting his return to the United States.
