An account of the day to day life of a militaman of the Nauvoo Legion during the Utah War. Mentions raids on government supply trains and harrassment of federal troops. August 8, 1857 to December 5, 1857. Tuttle writes daily entries detailing militia movements, militia intelligence, and communications from Daniel H. Wells, as well as guard duty, and cattle rustling. He often writes of Orrin Porter Rockwell, William Hickman, and Lot Smith harassing the U.S. army supply trains. The journal ends with the militia's dismissal and blessing by Daniel H. Wells and Brigham Young.
