"Keele recounts the story of an elderly German man (unidentified) who he interviewed. At age thirteen in 1936, he and his mother joined the Church. His mother was overly protective and, rebelliously, the young man joined the Hitler youth groups. He was chosen to be a member of the SS guards. He had a change of heart after being sent on a detail to round up the Jews. He tried to desert but was caught and spent the remainder of the war in prison camps. After the war, he became very active in the Church and served in numerous callings and on missions." [Publisher's abstract]
