"In the course of revising the King James version of the Bible, Joseph Smith translated two New Testament passages twice; both translations varying from each other. The two versions of the two translations (Matthew 26:1-71 and 2 Peter 3:4-6) are published here together and examined to see what can be learned from them. The authors make a detailed analysis of the verses. These duplicate translations show that Joseph Smith revised his translation of the Bible in three ways: "rewording for clarity, modernizing of archaic King James translation language, and introducing new content." Using the information learned from these duplicate translations, the authors offer insight into the process that Joseph employed to create the New Translation." [Publisher's abstract]
