This letter, written from Winter Quarters on September 19, 1846 was directed to non-Mormon family members in Massachusetts. She expresses satisfaction with her experiences as a Mormon and describes their journey from Nauvoo to Winter Quarters. She gives a detailed written description of their wagon, tent, camp life, and food. She mentions the Mormon Battalion, diseases, saved locks of Joseph Smith's hair, Nauvoo Temple, opinion about Church leaders, mail delivery, deaths in camp, Indians, abundance of nuts and fruit, etc. The original letter is in the Utah State Historical Society.
