Chase investigates the validity of the well-known tale in which a Japanese pilot sent to attack Pearl Harbor went astray and unsuccessfully attempted to bomb the Hawaii Temple in Laie; after which he purportedly joined the Church. Chase conducted interviews of the two original sources of the story, but encountered many dead ends and could not prove that the attempted bombing really occurred. He theorizes that little research has been conducted to test the validity of the story because if somehow proven false, the Saints may lose faith.
