Stapley discusses the nineteenth century LDS doctrine of adoption, in which deceased persons were sealed as a family member to a living family. The view on adoption theology of early leaders Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, and Wilford Woodruff are considered. Additionally, the movement of Mormons from Nauvoo, Illinois to Salt Lake City, Utah is discussed. Other topics include "Mormon temple liturgy, cosmological priesthood, and sacerdotal kinship."
