Die Fulle des Priestertums : Die zweite Salbung in der Theologie und Praxis der Heiligen der Letzten Tage
The initiation and practice of granting and giving the ordinance variously called the "second anointing," "higher blessings," "second endowment," etc. is essayed in the general context of developing Mormon theology. Since its inception in 1843, several thousand such ordinances have been performed for the living and vicariously for the dead. Policies restricting its administration during Heber Grant's presidency so curtailed its practice that today it is not widely known or understood. The question of whether the ordinance was conditional or unconditional is discussed.
