This article is a transcription of a speech delivered by Ronald E. Romig, president of the Mormon History Association at the MHA annual meeting in Kansas City, Kansas in May 2010. Romig discusses the historical legacy of Joseph Smith's third son to live to adulthood, Alexander Hale Smith. His role in the Restoration movement of the the Church is examined.
