"In order to learn more about how media organizations filter information about religious groups, the authors examine newspaper reviews summarizing the depictions of Mormons in Tony Kushner's play Angels in America. At a more general level, the play is about the consequences of the rise of conservative politics and the playwright's views on how well religious institutions offer guidance to society, particularly society's perceived failure to embrace the homosexual community in a time of crisis brought about by the AIDS epidemic."
