"This study will plot the course of Mormon colonization from both a Latter-day Saint and a Mexican perspective. It will examine the factors contributing to the Mormon Church's decision to establish colonies in Mexico and the policies enacted by the Mexican government that fostered economic prosperity. Furthermore, it will analyze the amiable relationship the Saints enjoyed with Mexican officials during the Porfiratio and how this association affected the Mormons with the onset of the Mexican Revolution. Certainly, both parties benefitted from this relationship in different ways as they sought to further their own particular agendas." [From author's introduction]
