In this lecture Avery outlines the events of the mission David Hyrum Smith and his brother Alexander Smith served in Utah. Both were sons of the prophet Joseph Smith Jr. and members of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The brothers travelled to Utah hoping to preach their message and reunite the Church in Utah with the RLDS church in Nauvoo. The brother's teachings about polygamy created difficulties for them as they sought to live and preach in Utah. They were firm in their efforts, however, which resulted in several debate-style sermons: they would deliver their message, and afterward their cousin Joseph F. Smith would deliver a message across town rebutting their claims.
