Considers the relationship between leaders in the LDS Church and the Forest Service during the l940s and l950s. Henry D. Moyle and J. Reuben Clark were extremely antagonistic toward the Forest Service. Ezra Taft Benson, during part of the period as Secretary of Agriculture, was extremely supportive of the activities of the Forest Service in trying to reduce grazing of sheep and cattle to the carrying capacity of the land.
