In this article Holzapfel and Smoot analyze Wilford Woodruff's 1897 testimony, and its contribution to Church history. They discuss the importance of the first-person, eye-witness account as well as the problems arising from it being recorded long after the actual events. The testimony was recorded in both written and audio formats, and they discuss the pains taken to preserve the original wax cylinders as well as attempts to transfer the audio recording to more modern media formats.
