Christopher Blythe tells the story of Alpheus Cutler and the church he founded. Alpheus Cutler was highly regarded by Joseph Smith, and became a member of a council or quorum of seven men in the Council of Fifty. After the Prophet's death, Cutler felt that this qualified him to be a successor to Joseph Smith, and he believed that the Council of Fifty was greater than other Church organizations and positions. He was the last member of the seven still alive and still in the Church. The rest of the article talks about the organization of the church of the Cutlerites and gives some information on their history in the 20th century.
