In this article Fred Woods tells the story of Fort Bridger from the experience of the Mormon pioneers who traveled by and camped out near the fort. The Church purchased the fort in 1855. In 1868 Woming became a territory and included the fort in the boundaries of the area. Also, 1868 was the last year of overland pioneer travel.
