Washington County, located in the southwest corner of the state of Utah, was created by an act of the Legislative Assembly of the Territory of Utah on March 3, 1852, and was named for President George Washington. It included all of the territory south of Iron County extending from the western border of what is now nevada, through Utah, and into the eastern portion of Colorado.
