Erekson explores the LDS practice of officially naming and blessing infants within a Church setting. He notes that the practice is founded in Parley P. Pratt's assertion that since infants have not reached the age of accountability, there is no need for infant baptism. Rather, infant blessings are a way to welcome children into the Church and into families. Erekson also emphasize that both parents and children are richly blessed following compliance with this practice.
