This article chronicles the career and administration of Benjamin Cluff Jr. at BYU. Cluff succeeded Karl G. Maeser as president of Brigham Young Academy, and was followed by Franklin S. Harris. His career is often overshadowed by theirs, and by his own quest to find Book of Mormon ruins. However, he made important contributions to the academics, culture, and facilities of Brigham Young University, including being instrumental in the transition to University status.
