This article was the presidential address given in Kirtland, Ohio, at the JWHA 2007 annual meeting. The article covers the arrest and incarceration of several prominent Mormons in two jails in the towns of Richmond and Columbia, Missouri. The article also includes information on those who arrested them, and the judges and laws involved in the arrests. "Finally, the episode surrounding the incarceration of the last Mormon prisoners in Richmond and Columbia jails marks the concluding chapter of Mormonism in Missouri during the decade of the 1830s."
