Brown explores the implied meanings of "Paracletes," a piece of science fiction written by William Phelps during the time of Joseph Smith. Phelps was well known for being a clerk and coach to Joseph Smith, and often "Ghost-wrote" for the prophet. Brown explains that the content of "Paracletes" was drawn from religious belief of the time, as well as Phelps' patriarchal blessing.
